"Parasite" Wins Best Oscar. Edited on Final Cut Pro 7

Parasite.jpg

In 2011 Apple dropped the wildly successful Final Cut Pro 7 and FCP Studio to introduce us to what they said was the 'new paradigm' of video editing, FCPX.

We were told the 'old ways' were too slow and too cumbersome for modern storytelling. In 2020 "Parasite" won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

The film was masterfully edited using Final Cut Pro 7.

That slow software from 2011.

It's never about the tool in filmmaking and storytelling. It's all about the artist and how they use the tool.

My friend Steve Hullfish interviewed Editor Yang Jin-mo recently about the film. It's a great listen.
